Santa Cruz, CA Daniel Matthew Silvernail Architect was selected to design this 9-unit townhome development situated in the Live Oak area of Santa Cruz. Our charge included site design for this 1.25 acre site and individual building designs right down to the selection of exterior color schemes! Conceived as a community of homes arrayed around a motor court, all but one of the units was conceived from scratch, with the ninth unit tastefully remodeled to fit into the overall development. Their architecture was purposefully designed to recall traditional architectural style and detailing, and enhance their overall effect as a community of buildings. Deliberate emphasis was placed on treatments supporting the harmonious relationship of the individual buildings as “parts” to the development as a whole, with necessary contrasting architectural elements and finishes.
