Pelz Residence,

Designed in the Craftsman Style, this home was commissioned by Pelz Construction to convert an otherwise nondescript tract house into an comfortably livable, architecturally unique, and ultimately profitably marketable property.

Located on Santa Cruz’ fashionable Westside, these goals were attained by adding a second story over the existing house to the maximum limits of the zoning regulations, thus adding 50% to the existing area. This allowed the addition of a master bedroom suite, family room, and half-bath upstairs, plus a major overhaul of the previously disorganized first floor, resulting in a 3-BR, 2.5-BA home with attached garage.

Thus the first component this design’s success resulted from our space-planning efforts. The next component in its success was curb appeal, and this was lavished on the facades in tasteful abundance. Finally, the third component, craftsmanship, is testament to Pelz Construction’s skills as master builder. Attention to detail is exhibited in every aspect of the end result, from the workmanship of the hand-made entry door to the exotic woodwork of the custom cabinetry.
